Parenting Plus: A New Chapter for Parents
Location/s: Two locations: 1. Catholic Charities Joliet Office, 203 N. Ottawa St., Joliet, IL 60432, 3rd Floor, and 2. Catholic Charities Lombard Office, 26 W. St. Charles Rd., Lombard, IL 60148
When do they meet? Parenting classes are offered throughout the year. Each class lasts six weeks with several different topics being covered within the six-week period.
Description: These six parenting classes are provided to increase knowledge of development and increase skills to discipline, communicate, reduce stress, improve self-care and more.
Fee: $40 per session (6 sessions for a total of $240)

Out of Poverty
Location: DuPage, Will, and Grundy Counties
When do they meet? Each location is different
Description: This course is a ten session program of personal change intended for individuals whose lives are habituated and sustained in some form of poverty. Out of Poverty affirms that change is possible. Following a step-by-step process within a group context, this program creates and fosters an environment in which change can and does occur. The program also includes an employment component.

Mentor Training
Location: Catholic Charities Lombard office, 26 W St Charles Rd. Lombard, IL , 60148
When do they meet? The class is usually offered twice a year, in April and October. These sessions are held on three consecutive Wednesday evenings.
Description: This is a three session training course for persons interested in becoming volunteer mentors for families who are previously homeless and are now participating in Catholic Charities’ Transitional Housing Programs in DuPage County . Mentors work directly with families, supporting them and helping them meet daily challenges.

Life Skills Training - Family Life Series
Location: The series is offered at the St. Luke’s Evangelical Church at 23W080 Butterfield Rd in Glen Ellyn.
When do they meet? This course is offered on four consecutive Saturdays mornings in the Spring and Fall.
Description: This required course for those interested in entering Catholic Charities Transitional Housing or Shift Housing Program covers topics such as Positive Parenting, Conflict Resolution, Credit and Money Management, and Nutrition. In addition to presentations by professional social workers, licensed counselors, and financial literacy specialists, guest client speakers are also usually featured.

Personal Development Training
Location: Catholic Charities Lombard Office, 26 W St Charles Rd. Lombard, IL 60148
When do they meet? These classes are offered monthly.
Description: The topics include Good Housekeeping, Financial Literacy, and Transitional Housing Orientation on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Fridays of the month respectively. One-time complete series attendance is required for all applicants interested in remaining on either the Transitional Housing or SHIFT program wait list. The classes are one hour in length from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

Support Groups |
Caregiver Support Group
Location: Catholic Charities’ Kankakee Office at 270 N. Schuyler Ave., Kankakee, IL 60901 .
When do they meet? Group meets over the lunch hour, Noon - 1:15 pm, monthly on the first Wednesday of each month.
Description: Topics vary, caregivers come together and share challenges and successes, a brief education topic is discussed as time allows and a light lunch is provided.

L.O.S.S. - Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide
Location: St. Daniel the Prophet Parish, 101 W. Loop Rd., Room 108, Wheaton IL 60187.
When do they meet? The fourth Thursday of every month, 7– 9 pm
Description: A free support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Description: A free support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Women’s Support Group
Location: 203 N. Ottawa St., Joliet, IL
When do they meet? Meeting times vary. Call for current group meeting date and times.
Description: This support group covers topics that relate to women. A different topic is covered each week. It is an open group and new members can join at any time.
Fee: $50 (We can bill most insurance companies and we do offer a sliding fee scale based on income.)
