“For I was hungry, and you gave me food . . .
What so ever you did for the least of my brothers and sisters,
You did it for me.” Matthew 25:35-41
We can’t feed the hungry in our community without you. Catholic Charities provides over 200,000 meals each year to those who were hungry. We also spend nearly $30,000 on food vouchers so families could purchase fresh foods and milk in addition to the food boxes they received. The demand for food seems to be never ending. Shepherd’s Table, our soup kitchen, feeds over 30,000 people offering them a free, nutritious noon-time meal, and our volunteers provide over 10,000 hours of service preparing those meals.
We have a special opportunity to raise some funds to feed the hungry. Alan Shawn Feinstein, a philanthropist dedicated to eliminating hunger in our country, has issued a challenge that says that he will add some of his own money for each donation we receive to feed the hungry. The more money we raise, the more of his money we will receive – and he has one million dollars to give away! Last year we raised over $53,000.
Please send in a donation to feed the hungry before April 30th, 2012. You can charge your gift online: click here to donate now or call Margaret at 815-724-1140 and she can process the transaction for you. Your gift will help feed the hungry in your community.
Blessings,

Glenn Van Cura, Executive Director
P.S. If you can’t send a gift now, please remember those who are hungry in your prayers.
